I was a pediatric chaplain in a newborn unit for awhile when I was in seminary. One thing I learned is that I can never know what you are feeling, but that I can be there for you. In this care, it is in spirit only, but know this...I am with you and for you...and more importantly, so is God.

Re: What is your dream for the church?

i am part of a simplechurch that owns nothing but rather gives everything away every month...we raggedly but intently love God, love persons, and grow Christfollowers

Re: brian mclaren :: 4.11

Big thanks to Brian for sharing his story and to Travis for getting the interview set up.

Brian was on our "dream list" or "bucket list" of guests when we first started the show back in May of 2008 so it's crazy to actually hear him on the show! ;-)

Re: jeff goins :: 4.8

My pleasure.

Re: jeff goins :: 4.8

Thanks, Travis!

Re: margaret feinberg :: 4.4

A few thoughts from the show...

I really like how Feinberg has come to appreciate the Scriptures more by viewing it through the eyes of others.

First her Jewish culture and background growing up and later with a shepherd, vintner and a famer.

As Tom Sine's mentioned on a previous episode that it's often good to read Scripture from the underside of power since that's how much of it was written.

I think it's important to realize there are other understandings of Scripture than our own and often those others can shed amazing light on what God may want to tell us.

It also reminds me of a video Charles Lee shared recently from Mike Rowe (http://www.charlestlee.com/bus... about how we often come across ephiphanies in the most "unusual of places" and come to realize that our way of thinking may have been wrong all along.

May we continue to examine ourselves in the lens of Scripture, as it's read around the world, and continue to get over our own certainity.

Re: will taylor :: 4.3

As your wife I'd like to be the first to comment & say thank you for your honesty Will. Plain and simple. It has nothing to do with any doctrinal statements I've made. In Ken's mind, emergent automatically equals heretic. Period. No ifs, ands, or buts. Plus, my theology is somewhere in between mainline and evangelical, and for Ken only fundamentalism will do.

Ken, I'm sorry to say this, but I'm done with you. I wish you nothing but the best, but it's obvious that this whole attempt at making peace has been a waste of time.. You remind me way too much like the bullies who picked on me in school. You make me feel like a worthless piece of crap. And you don't care!!!! Lately I've been moving more towards mainline Christianity. So I could be an ECLA Lutheran trapped in an LCMS church body. My problem is you tend you overgeneralize things. "You identify yourself as emerging, therefore that automatically means you don't believe in any of the core cardinal church doctrines." If you don't agree with us, that's fine. Chris and I disagree about certain things. But he does have the guts to talk to people he disagrees with.

Re: chris rosebrough (pirate christian) :: 3.46

Why not?
